A great summer idea for the family...

January 1st. is only a day away and that means that the 2nd. semester of school is going to fly by... ( which means this momma is looking forward too - I love time off with my sweeties)

I know its early, but I have already been thinking of what fun and exciting things are we going to be doing this summer. I came across the "Family Summer Bucket List" on Pinterest and thought this would be so fun to sit down as a family and create. I know Megan and Chance will love to pick out fun thing to do out of this throughout the summer! I love making things fun for the kids!!!

This year we are not planning on a "huge family vacation" so this year will be doing little trips in Texas. ( Beach is where I want to go)
(My goal is to start saving our $$$ for the following summer to Disney!)

Some of the ideas that I have come up with for our lists include:

*Picnic lunch at the pool

*Root beer floats and movie day

*Camp out in the backyard

I only have written down three, have lots more in mind, but once I fix up our family bucket I want to include the kid's ideas as well.

I think this is going to be a lot of fun and they are going to get a kick out of it.

I love to plan ahead and love to be on the ball, so I'm off to get more ideas for Valentines, Easter and the other upcoming holidays... :)

Happy Blogging,

New Year's Resolutions....

It's that time of year again, when everyone starts setting their New Year's Resolutions. I always have had the same ol' same ol' resolution year after year..... Lose weight, blah blah blah... :) Well this year I have come to the conclusion that I want to really set some better goals for myself and my family.

Yes lose the baby weight is one of the things that I do want to achive this year, I mean lets face it, my baby is eight years old, I just want to do that on my own and not make it my # 1 resolution.

I have come up with a few resolutions that I really really want to achieve, some will take more time than others, but thats ok at least we will be on the right track to achive them.

1. De-clutter my house- I have already started this. I have taken each room and gotten rid of a lot of stuff that we do not use. If it has been sitting on a shelf for more than a month its gotta go, if it has a little bit of dust on it, its gotta go.

2. Don't take on more than I can handle- I love to volunteer ( don't get me wrong I still will, but...) but I will only sign up for one thing not the whole list on the e-mail and when my calender is already full I will stick to what I can do and say no.... ( make sense?)

3.Budget better- We would really like to get out from under our small debt and save more money! This is a biggie for us, but I know we can do it. :)

4. Eat out less - This is a huge one for us, we are on the go ALOT and am hoping to try to figure out a way to make more meals at home while still on the go, we will see.....

5. More date nights for Chad and I- I would love once a month date nights!

I think these are reasonable resolutions and I think if we try hard enough on a few of them we can achive our goals. ( like # 3 & # 4)

WHAT ARE YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS?????

Megan's No more Tonsils....

Our sweet girl had her tonsils and adenoids removed last Tuesday. I don't know if you have ever had your tonsils removed, but it has been a bumpy ride for the last week. Poor sweet thing has had ok days and tough days.

I do want to start from the beginning and say that the only reason she had to have her tonsils removed is that since she was in 1st. grade until now and she is in 4th. grade, she has had strep 15 time. Yes that is not a typo.... I said 15 times. She has been on every antibotic for strep that I can think of and has missed between 15-18 days of school for a couple of years. Bless her heart, she had had enough of being sick. The rest of us have never gotten strep all that time either. A couple of weeks before Thanksgiving I took it on my own and went to a ENT and had her evaluated. The Dr. looked at her tonsils and I gave her all the information on Megan and she said that she had strep EIGHT times to MANY.... ( to make a story short, I'm not even gonna go there why it took so long for this to happen...)

The Dr. scheduled Megan's appt. for December 20 and we all left the office a little nervous, but knowing that this will help her out in the long run.

The Day before her surgery I took the kids out to lunch and treated them to a cupcake at the new cupcake bakery "GiGi's Cupcake". They loved it! We met Paw Paw for dinner at Megan's resturant choice for dinner "Red Robin" to enjoy a nice and full filling dinner. It was delicious!!! Paw Paw surprised Megan with Eric the Penguin from Build A Bear, he was all decked out in pajamas, slippers and he had a little voice. He is so cute! Paw Paw said it was for her to take in with her to the hospital. She loved it!

That night she was unable to eat or drink after midnight so we (she) wanted to make sure she was really FULL! :)

The next morning I got up at 4:30a.m. and got ready, got Megan up and dressed pretty in her new pajamas ( gotta still look cute right?...) and then Chad and Chance got up. We headed to the hospital.

Megan got all set up and she was so brave! We were so proud of her!!! I think she was more brave than me. HA! I actually had to keep tears in, even though I knew it wasn't nothing too too serious, I just didn't like seeing our little girl laying in that hospital bed and knowing they were going to take her and do surgery.

The whole procedure took maybe 40 min. The Dr. came out and said everything went great. We were pleased it was done. After about 25 more minutes we were able to go back to see her. Sweet thing was zonked out. She later woke up and was doing good. No pain as of then, which was good. (We didn't know what to expect afterwards) The nurse gave us all the information that we needed to know for when we are home and after staying in the recovery room for a little over a hour and half Megan was able to go home.

After coming home, she slept with me in my room for the first week, just so I could help her. It has been a little painful - a little throat, but more of ear pain. Which is all normal they say. The night before Christmas she has started sleeping in her room, but I do still get up in the middle of the night to give her medicine and to check on her.

She can only eat soft foods still... popsicles, jello, soft rice, has moved up to mac-n-cheese and lots of water!!!!!! She has lost weight too!

We are going on the second week and she is still having ear pain, the nurse says that this will be a hard week for her with that since everything is "healing" back there. ( by the way I've called a few times at the Dr. office, I think they know my voice..HA, but I'm just a concerned mom...lol)

Hopefully we are on the mend of all pain and she will be up and moving and back to her normal self soon. Megan has requested that when she can EAT, she wants pizza and donuts and she would like them together! We told her we could make that happen!!!!

We have been so lucky and blessed with all the phone calls, e-mails, texts and visitors that have come to see Megan. She even got a Get Well card in the mail from the school counslor. She is one lucky little girl to have so many people that have thought about her.

She has been a trooper through all of this and hopefully this will help her not have any more yucky strep too!
